Taryn Kiekow Heimer directs two of the organization’s major campaigns: stopping the development of the environmentally disastrous Pebble Mine project proposed in Alaska’s Bristol Bay and putting an end to commercial whaling.?She also leads our work to protect beluga whales in Cook Inlet, Alaska. In addition, she works on initiatives relating to undersea noise pollution and the preservation of key marine mammal species and their habitats. Prior to joining NRDC, she worked as a litigation associate at a private law firm in Washington, D.C. Heimer has a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University and a JD from the University of Virginia. She is based in Santa Monica.
